About Fairfield Mountains

The Lake Lure area provides many recreational opportunities, from world class golf, incredible fishing and hunting, hiking, rafting and canoeing and pleasure cruises on the lake to area restaurants and parks. The Activities Center has tennis, two pools and many activities for the entire family. Nearby you will find many attractions--the Biltmore Estate is the largest mansion in America and; Chimney Rock Park has one of the greatest waterfalls in the world. Golf at Fairfield Mountains gives you a choice of the Dan Maples designed Apple Valley Country Club, or the beautiful Bald Mountain Golf Club (which was used in the filming of the movie "Dirty Dancing"). Both are beautiful and challenging golf courses with extended seasons due to Hickory Nut Gorge's isothermal properties. Hole-by-hole tours of the courses are available or preview the signature holes of each course. Vacation home or condominium rentals are available for the day, weekend, week, or season. The Almost Heaven house is a great option for a large golf group, company outing or family reunion. Cradled in a pristine Alpine setting along 27 miles of shore line in Lake Lure, the community offers all that can be expected of a leading retirement resort. Of special appeal is the proximity of Fairfield Mountains to a sizable city-Asheville (population of more that 61,000 and growing), only a 45-mile drive. About 90 miles to the east is the state's largest city, Charlotte, considered by many to be one of the nation's most attractive metropolitan centers.
